I return to this view – only a couple hundred meters from our home – again and again. The oak tree leaning over the bicycle path, the white birches catching the light, the ivy growing on the tree trunks: I know it by heart but it’s new every time.

Spring colors
Today was an ideal day to go out with my camera. Spring is really here, with the soft greens and striking reds of the young beech leaves. What a blessing to be able to enjoy this!
Fallen
We’ve had some big storms this year, and many trees have fallen, like this old beech tree. Even in destruction, there is beauty!
Waiting for spring…
The weather was great in the past week, but the forest is still waiting for spring. And maybe that is for the best, since tomorrow the temperature is expected to drop again.

Once in a while it’s great to go back and look at old unedited photographs. Sometimes they are gems waiting to be discovered!
Back in the game!
On Christmas Day I fell during a hike and it left me sore and unable to walk – let alone walk with my camera backpack – for some time. I’m happy that I’m now completely healed and again able to go on hikes with my camera. Fortunately this weekend the weather was perfect as well, so I was able to take some nice misty shots!

Winter is coming
As the days grow shorter and colder, there is a lot of moisture in the air, more often than not in the form of rain. It seems to wash away colors and details, leaving only the most essential information.

This place looks like it stepped out of a story book. The fall colors make it a truly magical place.
Too misty?
I took this picture, and looking at it on my laptop I thought, “Nah, too misty, and with those dead trees… Let’s throw it out.” Then I looked at it again today, and now I think it’s actually beautiful! Weird, how your perception changes from day to day…
