We’ve lived here four months now, so it’s still a time of firsts. First storm, first Christmas, and now the first really frosty morning. And oh how beautiful it is!

On Christmas Day I fell during a hike and it left me sore and unable to walk – let alone walk with my camera backpack – for some time. I’m happy that I’m now completely healed and again able to go on hikes with my camera. Fortunately this weekend the weather was perfect as well, so I was able to take some nice misty shots!

The church in the village of Molenhoek. Taken on my morning walk, just before sunrise.
It’s been a while since I posted! Moving house and rainy Dutch weather are not ideal circumstances for photography. But here I am again, from a white wonderland!
It’s winter here in southern Africa, with temperatures sometimes dropping to almost zero degrees. And still, some butterflies are on their wings, providing contrasting colors. I think this one is called the soldier pansy.

The sun shines brightly, but in the mornings and evenings it gets chilly. No wonder that Zambians are stocking up on their winter’s clothes. In this roadside stall the main item for sale are gloves. Who would have thought that there is a thriving market for gloves in Zambia?
